HAVE YOU EVER PANICKED BECAUSE YOU HAVE LOST YOUR CHILD WHILE SHOPPING IN TOWN? KEEP CHILDREN SAFE CAMPAIGN LAUNCH.... Sometimes, we are so enthusiastic about a grant application that we turn a grant into a project and partner with the charity that has turned to us for help. It was just so with Childwatch, the charity that is launching a campaign in partnership with FFFC to keep children safe while shopping in town centres. The campaign will start in Perth, fan out to many other areas in Scotland and then….who knows where….wherever it is important to keep children safe. |

LETTERS, WE GET LETTERS, WE GET LOTS AND LOTS OF LETTERS….. If you really want to know the impact a grant from FFFC can have on small charities that do big jobs in their local communities, why not have a look at just a few of the many letters of thanks we have received. One of these charities had tried everywhere for funding and been turned down. It was on the brink of closure before The Fund stepped in. FFFC FUNDS AFTER-SCHOOL CLUBS IN WALESClybiau Plant Cymru Kids' Clubs is the national organisation for almost 1900 out of school childcare clubs across Wales, supporting over 95,000 childcare places for 3 - 14 year olds. FFFC was impressed with the work they do by giving kids a positive start in life and instilling social values. We felt the need to keep these Clubs going was critical and so were proud to donate £9040 to Clubs across Wales so they could continue their excellent work. |

CHILDREN'S HOSPICE IN SCOTLAND BENEFITS FROM FUND GRANTThe teenage den at the children's hospice Robin House in Balloch was delighted to receive a donation from The Forester's Fund for Children (FFFC) to buy two state-of-the art electronic desks to help disabled teenagers play computer games, do their home work or read. More than 70 per cent of young people who use CHAS's (Children's Hospice Association Scotland) services: Robin House, Rachel House in Kinross and CHAS at Home are aged thirteen or over and their needs are very different from young children. Many have disabilities which make it difficult or uncomfortable for them to use standard desks. The two new hydraulic desks are height adjustable so that young people can alter them to suit their individual needs. |

FUND GOES THE EXTRA MILE TO SUPPORT REDBRIDGE FORUM Fund support isn't just about money. When we were approached by Redbridge Forum which provides support and training for parents of children with a learning disability in Ilford, we were told they needed a new Mac computer to help them provide information to their carers and also to help the children with their communication and computer skills. FFFC is fortunate to have, as a trustee, Jason Alexander of Jalex Collective IT who, when he saw the application said that we could do even better. He was able to source a state-of-the-art, brand new Mac for The Forum and took a day to go to Ilford, set it all up and help one of the children to understand how to use it. From the smiles all round, it is pretty evident that this grant will mean a lot!

ROCKING IN RURAL ENGLAND.... Much has been made of the lack of opportunity for healthy recreation and skills training for rural youngsters. The Yoxford Arts Festival, thanks to a £1000 grant from The Foresters’ Fund for Children, shows what can happen when rural communities receive much needed support. Ian Terry, Chair of The Yoxford Arts Festival said: The grant from The Foresters’ Fund for Children enabled us to run a full, week-long rock school course for local children with professional tuition from Pete Hagan, musical director of Starlight Express and Shirley Bassey, guitarist/singer Rod Maclane from the band Fever and the famous percussionist Gary Kettel, culminating in a performance at the Yoxford Arts Festival. Right now, we have a village hall full of 15 year olds busy writing songs for their bands and without the grant we would be been able to do this.” |
