FFC uniquely helps others to help children by giving grants primarily to the small, local children’s charities throughout the UK that urgently need help but find it difficult to compete for funds with larger charities.
Grants made by The Fund are sometimes the difference between the ability of these charities to continue and closure. Your support means support for more vulnerable children. And thanks to you, over the past few years, The Fund has helped more than 500,000 children and babies.
FUND ANNOUNCES NEW PATRON JEFFREY CAINE
IS HELPING US TO HELP CHILDREN
FFFC is delighted that prominent writer and award winner, Jeffrey Caine has agreed to become the Fund's newest patron. Born in London in 1944, Jeffrey Caine was educated at the Universities of Sussex and Leeds, where he obtained degrees in Philosphy and English. He taught English in schools and colleges for three years before becoming a professional writer.
Married in 1969 and widowed in 1995, he has two daughters and three grand-children.After writing mainly for British television between 1986 and 1992, during which period his own series "The Chief" ran for five seasons, he has concentrated in recent years on screenplays.
His produced screenplays to date are Goldeneye , Inside I'm Dancing (a.k.a. Rory O'Shea Was Here ) and The Constant Gardener. Current project is an original screenplay for Richard Attenborough. Inside I'm Dancing won an IFTA Script Award in 2004; The Constant Gardener was nominated for Academy â and BAFTA Awards.
Though most of his produced work as a film and television writer to date (Goldeneye, Inside I'm Dancing, The Constant Gardener, The Chief etc) has been for adult audiences, Jeffrey's next project is to adapt for film the sequel to a world-famous children's book, the name of which TBA
